Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance with all the applicable EHS Legal requirements and others
  • Provides training and maintains all department documented information, related to all EHS Management System and EHS Certifications 
  • Help and contribute to implement and maintain safety EHS programs in place to avoid injuries and illness. 
  • Support to EHS Manager in all applicable audits and inspections and (Legal requirements and Others) its follow up (Corrective action, etc) 
  • Responsible for incident investigation update, Incident management with the teams, coordinate the teams to find the root cause and corrective and preventive actions 
  • Create and follow up the safety standards action plan to ensure the implementation 
  • Helps for sustaining environmental certifications such as ISO 14001, Clean Industry (Federal Program), Voluntary Regulation Compliance (State Program), STPS Self-Management, Etc 
  • Support for updating EHS legal requirements and others documented information 
  • Actively involvement in the Safety Workplace Inspections, Gemba Walks, and the follow up of the action plan for closing non-conformities 
  • Collaborate in all safety groups such as Committee of Health, Safety and Environment, Fire Brigade, First Aid Brigade and Rescue Brigade 
  • Help and execute the different type of Drills 
  • Train employees and contractors on Safety during Induction Course 
  • Support the elaboration of safety alerts for incidents and SIF Cases 
  • Responsible for collecting all information for the monthly Gensuite safety reports 
  • Responsible for collecting all information for the monthly Gensuite environmental reports 
  • Collaborate to comply the Safety annual plan required by corporate and the STPS Autogestion program 

Education

  • Bachelor´s Degree (Engineering Industrial, Chemical, Environmental, EHS or some related)
  • 2-5 experience years in manufacturing, medical, automotive, molding, or related industries

Experiences

  •  Bilingual.
  • Knowledge on EHS Mexican regulations (STPS, Protección Civil, SEMARNAT, SEDUMA, Etc.) 
  • Knowledge on Safety Programs implementation 
  • Basic understanding of Six Sigma and/or Lean manufacturing systems (Desire)
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt would be a plus (Desired)
  • ISO 14001 Internal Auditor experience  Occupational, Health and Safety management systems auditor experience
