Role Purpose

The Engineering Manager will be a key leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing engineering within our organization. This position plays a crucial role in driving operational excellence, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Engineering Manager will lead a team of skilled engineers to design, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing processes, ensuring the highest level of productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, enhance product development, and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage an engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to foster a culture of excellence and professional growth.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing manufacturing processes and workflows, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • New Process Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new manufacturing processes, ensuring seamless integration of advanced technologies and best practices.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and control production costs, seeking innovative ways to reduce expenses while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including R&D, production, maintenance, and supply chain teams, to foster a cohesive and collaborative work environment.
  • Provide specific engineering and manufacturing skills and knowledge direction (understands theories and fundamentals) and ensure team members identify root cause of issues in order to provide permanent solutions.
  • Manage resources that ensure all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements for projects are met.
  • Manage resources that help develop SME knowledge of material, process and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.

Experiences/Education - Required

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Filed (preferred but not a must: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic, Electronic or similar)
  • Minimum of 10+ years of relative experience with equipment design and delivering and supporting systems in manufacturing.

 

Required Skills:

    • Experience in high volume production environments
    • Experience in labor intensive and asset intensive operations
    • Experience in engineering leadership role, with proven progression of leadership roles from engineer to manager
    • Strong background in process optimization, Lean Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive data-driven decisions.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
    • Project management experience and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Adaptability to evolving technologies and a commitment to staying updated with industry trends.
    • Lead or participate in engineering strategy creating process

Experiences/Education - Desired

Desired Skills:

  • Process simulation software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Fiber optic processing technology
  • Experience working with Automation Vendors
