Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The role of this position is to develop and implement the required strategy to ensure the continuous uptime of facilities equipment.   Responsibilities include maintaining the facilities equipment in optimal conditions and supporting a continuous improvement culture for energy saving solutions. 

Responsibilities

  • Understand the impact of manufacturing processes and equipment regarding environmental impacts and safety and hygiene compliance.
  • Participate, as a team member, in regulatory, corporate or facility safety and hygiene inspections and investigations.
  • Continuos improvement through the innovation and implementation of new technology.
  • Maintain building and facilities equipment in optimal conditions.
  • Track and manage budget.
  • Identify cost savings projects within facilities area.
  • Identify and implement best practices based on experience and corporate recommendations.
  • Implement and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities of the facilities equipment that support the operation of the building and manufacturing activities.
  • Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities and managing workload.
  • Implement and sustain safety initiatives such as LOTO, PIV, EPP usage and Electrical Safety.
  • Perform cost benefit analysis and use KT tools to procure new equipment.
  • Manage contractors and suppliers related with facilities services and construction projects.
  • Evaluate contractor’s performance and assure correct policy follow up and compliance.                                                     

Skills

  • Fully bilingual – English and Spanish
  • Knowledge on compressed air and reverse osmosis systems
  • Experience with large manufacturing buildings – 250,000 sqft +
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Strong verbal, written skills, and presentation skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Six sigma belt certifications
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, TL9000 and ISO 14001 certifications
  • Knowledge of Mexican and US safety & environmental norms and standards
  • Experience with risk assessment
  • Statistical analysis

Work Experience

  • 7 - 10 years of experience leading Facility or Maintenance department
  • Experience with large manufacturing buildings
  • Knowledge of electrical substations, HVAC, compressed air and reverse osmosis systems
  • Project management experience
  • Bachelor of Science Engineering
  • Certified Green Belt (desired)
