Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Lead and/or direct engineering resources in the development and improvement of processes and equipment. Achieve low cost manufacturing, superior quality/service and improved capability/capacity

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the maintenance and repair of all facilities, equipment, and systems within the manufacturing plant.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the continuous operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Supervise a team of maintenance technicians and contractors to ensure work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor and control facility budgets, expenses, and costs associated with maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for employees.
  • Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance activities and minimize downtime for production.
  • Identify areas for improvement in facility operations and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain records and documentation related to maintenance activities and equipment performance.
  • Participate in the selection and evaluation of vendors and contractors for facility maintenance services.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to management on facility performance, maintenance activities, and budgetary matters.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical, Electromechanical or Civil 
  • At least 5 years of experience in facility management, maintenance, or related field in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building management systems, equipment, and machinery.
  • Leadership and communication/presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience across multiple organizations/plants
  • Understanding of manufacturing accounting and control
  • Knowledge of manufacturing excellence tools (AME, KT, Lean)
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration
