Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Corning Shared Services (CSS) supports Corning’s global operations and delivers profitable growth through evolving processes, ensuring compliance, and executing vital transactions. This person must be process and controls oriented, open minded, continuous improvement focused, and able to work with multifunctional team for a high level of performance. Assist CSS Manager with Monthly Financial Closing, ensures consistency closing process and reporting timely and accurate. Ensures entity compliance with local regulations, GAAP accounting principles and Corning policies and procedures. Implements reporting tools to facilitate key financials. Key resource for projects. Exhibits sound analytical skills and strong PC-based skills. Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures. Follows specific, detailed instructions. Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, business partners and other personnel in the section or group. May or may not have frequent external customer. Finance also provides financial expertise companywide and ensures accurate and efficient transaction processing.
Experiences/Education - Required
• Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3 to 5 years of total working experience related to Accounting.
Key Responsibilities
• Strong financial and accounting background.
• Deep understanding of financial controls.
• Ability to be comfortable interacting and communicating with all aspects of the business, including plant leadership.
• Proficiency with Excel & PowerPoint, Power Bi is a plus.
• Ability to be creative in providing financial solutions to business leaders.
• Experience with Financial ERP and reporting systems (PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle etc.).
• Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge and documentation.
• Ability to analyze and interpret data and link to business implications.
• Problem solving capability.
• Good presentation skills.
• Bilingual Spanish - English.
