Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:
Define Global Supply Chain strategies aligned with business and regional supply chain strategies for Corning Optical Communications (COC). Evaluate and recommend optimization strategies for global capacity, capability, and cost opportunities within supply chains to meet customer and delivery goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute Optical Fiber and Cable’s Data Center strategies supporting customer requirements.
  • Maximize scalability and adaptability to change, including market and business needs.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and manufacturing management globally to develop accurate demand forecasting, balanced production, and inventory planning.
  • Review and report forecast and actual order demand for High-Speed Data Center (HSDC) customers.
  • Develop simple metrics for tracking complex business management processes.
  • Assist in developing solutions for data center contracts.
  • Lead processes to determine optimal manufacturing locations.
  • Maintain total weekly demand and supply by plant (supported by direct reports) for potential expedite and de-expedite scenarios.
  • Develop and maintain global capacity models informed by regional models.
  • Collaborate with Regional and Plant resources to:
    • Aggregate demand information and facilitate global loading of demand with global supply.
    • Highlight global challenges and opportunities (e.g., excess capacity and capacity shortages impacting cost and delivery) and drive resolution of capacity decisions.
    • Drive supply chain flexibility by ensuring staffed capacity allows production lines to ramp quickly for upside revenue opportunities.
  • Support Product Teams as necessary.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to optimize customer service levels, inventory, and asset utilization.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain degree preferred).
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain Operations with a demonstrated track record of results.
  • Expertise in Supply Chain Strategies: Mastery of supply chain strategy best practices and optimization philosophy (capability).
  • Process Understanding: Knowledge of process flow from fiber to finished solution (capacity).
  • Team Leadership: Ability to align and build teams to deliver results through influence across global resources, including those not reporting directly and with potential conflicting regional priorities.
  • Technical Skills:
    • SAP knowledge or understanding.
    • Strong understanding of product and regional demand.
    • Financial acumen, including understanding landed cost and VAT to drive decision-making.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Ability to simplify complex situations and manage ambiguity.
    • Experience in project management and superior organizational skills.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication skills, particularly upward within a global organization.
    • Leadership and interpersonal skills.
    • Assertiveness with a strong results orientation.
  • Strategic Execution: Ability to establish direction, work across multiple work streams, create strategy, and execute plans effectively.
  • Performance Impact: Proven ability to drive performance and delivery of internal service.
