Global Supply Chain Product Planner

Purpose and Major Responsibilities of Position

  • Define Supply Chain strategies linked to business strategies for one or more global products.   Set clear, well understood goals and objectives for success.
  • Evaluate and recommend how to optimize the global capacity, capability and cost opportunities within supply chains to meet global customer needs and program requirements.
  • Maximize scalability and adaptability to change, including market and business needs.   Ensure strategic alignment with product life cycle.

    • Define and communicate the local, regional and global roles and responsibilities to deliver the supply chain strategy.
    • Aggregate global demand information and facilitate global loading of facilities as appropriate.
    • Develop and maintain global capacity models for the purpose of capacity planning.
    • Facilitate global S&OP process for the product line.
    • Lead projects to identify, systemize, and deploy Plan functional best practices across the globe.  Act as a champion for best practice adoption and change.
    • Lead analytical projects to examine performance improvement opportunities, gaps against SCOR and AME standards, and other analyses targeted at increasing Global Supply Chain value add toward overall business performance.
    • Design and build forward looking networks, as required, that meet service, cost and risk aspirations.
    • Enable acting and thinking in an integrated global supply chain.
    • Propose, create (or elevate) lean, end-to-end value chains by optimizing across functions
    • Critique and provide feedback on ‘virtual supply chain’ talent. 
    • Use segmentation to embrace the complexity that matters.
    • Adopt and communicate global measures of supply chain effectiveness 

Major Ongoing Tasks

  • Develop and deploy product line Supply Chain strategies consistent with business and regional strategies.
  • Creates, tracks, monitors and reports on global supply chain metrics across to ensure effective execution of the manufacturing and business strategies
  • Identify and leverage global best practices to enable standardization where required
  • Leads projects to analyze Supply Chain performance and to drive lean supply chain best practices globally.

List the 2 most complex decisions indicative of this function and its impact to the function, department and/or corporation.

  1. Recommend global supply chain strategy, program, infrastructure, execution for the product line.
  2. Recommend supply chain adaptations required to achieve targeted business results.  Drive related projects (Where to make, inventory strategy, etc.) to successful completion.  Define and monitor metrics for success. 

 Personnel Directed:

  • Functional leadership for Regional Supply Chain Managers and Demand Planners for assigned product lines.
  • Linkage to all global manufacturing operations staff.   
  • Linkage to project managers implementing strategy, executing footprint projects, etc.

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • 8+ years experience in Supply Chain operations with demonstrated track record of results
  • Bachelors of Science Degree; Supply Chain degree preferable; MBA is a plus & preferred
  • Mastery of supply chain strategy best practices and philosophy in optimizing operations
  • Ability to align and build teams to deliver results
  • Ability to establish direction, work across multiple work streams, create strategy, execute
  • Strong communications, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Superior project management, analysis and organizational skills
  • Proven proficiency in cable manufacturing capabilities is a plus

  • Location – Hickory, NC
  • Travel ~ 30%
