Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

 

Role Purpose

Support the Human Resources team by assisting with daily HR operations while driving initiatives focused on process automation and employee engagement. The intern will help transform manual HR processes into automated solutions, support the execution of a program, and coordinate initiatives for unionized employees, ensuring timely and effective implementation. This role is ideal for a student interested in technology, artificial intelligence, HR innovation, and continuous improvement.

 

 

Activities

  • Assist with day-to-day Human Resources administrative activities.
  • Support employee communication and engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain and organize HR documentation and records.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and HR metrics tracking.
  • Provide support for employee events and HR programs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate manual HR processes.
  • Collaborate in the design, testing, and implementation of automated workflows.
  • Support the use of digital tools and AI-based solutions to increase efficiency.
  • Document new processes and develop user guides when required.

 

 

Required 
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in:Information Technology, Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems or a related field

 

 

Desired Skills

  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude.
  • Strong interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and process automation.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Basic knowledge of automation tools, data analysis, or workflow platforms is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
