Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position:

Support the design, development, and deployment of digital transformation solutions by applying AI, data engineering, and data science technologies to solve manufacturing and business challenges. Leverage an understanding of manufacturing systems and the data they generate to deliver scalable, value driven digital solutions.

Operates under general supervision, contributing to moderately sized projects or components of larger initiatives, with work reviewed for technical soundness and overall effectiveness.

 

Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Develop and deploy new fit-for-purpose digital solutions as a part of a cross-functional project team.
  • Support the maintenance, enhancement, and success of existing digital solutions.
  • Deliver assigned project milestones on time and in alignment with quality and technical standards.
  • Collaborate closely with IT Digital & Data Analytics leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams and plant stakeholders during solution design, testing, and deployment.
  • Build strong working relationships within the IT digital team and across manufacturing and business functions.
  • Engage with plant teams to promote digital adoption and foster a data-driven mindset.
  • Perform application design, analysis, testing, debugging, and implementation in support of manufacturing and infrastructure business processes.
  • Apply established technical standards, principles, and best practices in software and data solution development.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 4–6 years of relevant technical experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in English: strong technical reading and comprehension skills; conversational proficiency required.

 

Required Skills:

  • Strong passion for digital technologies and continuous learning.
  • 3-5 years of experience in .NET development (Visual Studio / C# preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL (stored procedures, views; SSIS is a plus).
  • 2-3 years of experience working in cloud environments (Microsoft Azure preferred).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
  • Hands-on experience with data engineering concepts and data pipelines.
  • Exposure to Generative AI concepts and prompt engineering.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Azure Data Lake, AWS S3).
  • Knowledge of data lifecycle management and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and MLOps practices.
  • Ability to collaborate across all organizational levels, from production associates to leadership.
  • Strong influencing, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
