Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose:
• Lead Global MES team making sure compliance with Corning and manufacturing systems standards.
• Lead implementations and migrations to standard manufacturing system.
• Support manufacturing operations by providing standard manufacturing systems for OCS.
• Help define MES strategy and roadmap for OCS.
• Deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Identify opportunities for process and system improvements.
• Support solutions and improvements for manufacturing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Leadership for manufacturing systems programing and support team.
• Lead system bundle process, making sure there is proper alignment.
• Make recommendations for altering or improving systems.
• Prime technical contact for application developers.
• Identify and resolve complex technical application issues within our customer service-level agreements.
• Ensure the alignment of solutions with business and IT goals and objectives.
• Translate business user functional requests requirements to build technical objects utilizing best practices.
• Work with business to solve system challenges.
• Participate in the evaluation and introduction of new technologies.
• Able to perform under pressure during times like a system down situation.
• Ability to work across multiple teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Conduct working sessions with business users as required.
• Understanding of programming practices to help provide direction for system solutions.
• Able to work with IT BE team during troubleshooting providing guidance when required.
• Proficient in working within our ticketing system - ServiceNow.
• Must be a self-starter with ability to manage work with minimal supervision.
• Will work with operations team in support break/fix activities as well as some project work.
• Will support on-call personnel as needed.
• Expected to meet SLA commitments defined by IT and agreed upon by the organization.
• Needs to be a self-starter and able to work independently following Corning established coding guidelines.
• Analyze software requirements to determine design feasibility.
• Provide support and advice in all technical aspects during implementation.
Experience/Education:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work/education experience.
• Proficient in English.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, functionality, interfaces and security.
• Excellent communication and written skills.
• Basic programming and database knowledge.
• 5+ years working in IT in a manufacturing environment.
Desired
• Previous project management experience.
• 3+ years MES systems experience.
• 5+ Programming systems for manufacturing environment.
• ServiceNow experience.
Travel
• Minimal domestic and international travel
