Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The IT Technical Leader role will be responsible for working with business leaders and users as well as IT resources to define, develop, implement and support standardized Camstar/PAC MES solutions across a global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first- and second-line technical support to users and developers:
  • 24x7 support and response
  • Identification and response to system/solution issues
  • Perform environment maintenance and related customer communications
  • System monitoring and recovery
  • Perform routine operational monitoring
  • Monitor server performance and initiate action when appropriate
  • Perform root cause analysis
  • Perform deployments and migrations facilitation
  • Maintain the development environment
  • Ensure that MES work is completed on schedule and that impacts to manufacturing systems are thoroughly documented and communicated.
  • Build, implement and support Camstar systems in accordance to standard Corning IT practices.
  • Develop IMS applications using various technical capabilities like Camstar modeling, .Net, AJAX, T-SQL, Etc…
  • Design and implement applications using various components of Camstar. 

Education

  • BS in Computer Science /Systems Management/IT Related field
  • Exposure to Manufacturing Execution Systems
  • Experience using programming languages
  • Experience working with IT systems in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
  • Experience with source code management systems
  • Experience with relational databases

Experiences

  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational, facilitation and negotiation skills (including ability to “translate” between business and technology needs).
  • Ability to continuously prioritize and multitask efficiently.
