Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Maintain Corning’s labor relation programs, policies, and procedures in the Reynosa Campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide initial support for employee/labor relation programs and initiatives
  • Monitoring and control of the labor relations department administrative process.    
  • Improves team efficiency, healthy work relationships and a positive work environment in the Reynosa campus
  • Provide support to Union representatives on behalf of the company
  • Assist all levels of management on labor matters
  • Provide support with legal and employee relations COE and departments in the preparation for and participation in negotiation with employee and labor groups.
  • Manage documentation and provide support for resignations, settlements, leave and absenteeism policies, as well as employee programs and procedures.
  • Ensures labor relations strategies align with organizational goals and are implemented uniformly across all plants.
  • Provide support and follow up on hourly and salaried employee termination.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s degree at Law, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Administration or related field required.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • 3 years of professional experience in human resources and employee relations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of negotiation techniques and dispute resolution
  • Act as a team member and/or facilitator
  • Ability to remain calm and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations
  • Ability to work effectively in matrix environment
  • Experience with external and internal Union in manufacturing environments
  • Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs
  • Knowledge of employment laws and policies
  • Basic proficiency in verbal & written English language skills
