Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

As a Maintenance Engineer, Your expertise will be vital in maintaining optimal performance, preventing downtime, and contributing to the overall productivity of the company. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues, implementing preventive maintenance plans, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support our operational objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on various equipment and machinery to identify potential issues and ensure their proper functioning.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and other technical problems on production machinery and facility systems.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance services when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including performed tasks, parts used, and repairs conducted.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to optimize equipment performance, provide technical support, and address maintenance-related concerns.
  • Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols during maintenance activities.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians and maintenance staff as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in maintenance engineering.
  • Key performance indicators management such as M TBF, TTR, OEE

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in maintenance or equipment-specific training are a plus.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • 2 - 4 years of experience in maintenance engineering roles.
  • Proven track record of diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
  • Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance methodologies.
  • Experience with corrective maintenance
  • Familiarity with maintenance management software and tools.
