Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
This position will oversee the procurement of indirect materials and services across the North American region, with a strong focus on cost savings, supplier efficiency, and inventory optimization. Based in Reynosa, the role leads a team of procurement professionals to ensure the achievement of key business goals such as cost reductions, supplier performance improvement, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs, and effective supplier relationship management.
Major responsibilities and tasks of the position.
Team Management:
Lead and develop a team of over 15 procurement staff, including buyers and supervisors; Provide mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities for team members.
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Design and execute sourcing strategies for indirect categories (e.g., office supplies, maintenance services, IT services, logistics, and more). Drive consolidation of supplier spending and identify cost-saving opportunities using data analysis and market insights.
Supplier Relationship Management
Evaluate and manage vendor performance, negotiate contracts, and maintain ethical relationships aligned with Corning’s Supplier Code of Conduct. (Ref. IA-MAT-4100).
Spend Analysis & Cost Control
Use procurement tools and data analytics to monitor spending trends, reduce inefficiencies, and enforce compliance with procurement policies.
Contract Negotiation
Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts to get better terms, discounts, and service agreements.
Policy Enforcement & Compliance
Ensure adherence to Corning’s procurement procedures, including NDA requirements and intellectual property protection when engaging suppliers, Ensure alignment with company standards for sustainability, ethics, and risk management.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with operations, finance, and global procurement teams to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree a plus.
- PMP, Six Sigma, Lean or CSCP certifications are a plus.
Work Experience
- +5years of supply chain experience, including project implementation.
- Expertise in supply chain operations such as forecasting, planning, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, or transportation.
- Proven track record of leveraging ERP and Supply Chain Management solutions to drive operational excellence.
- Proficiency in project management skills, methodologies, tools, and techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership in successful supply chain operations projects, digital transformation, or system implementations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical mindset to identify customer value and leverage data for decision-making.
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt, with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts.
