Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Planning                                                            LOCATION:       Reynosa Operations  


  1. Purpose of Position    
  1. The planner is the voice of the customer in the plant.
  2. Meet customer’s expectations of on time delivery as customer service champion. On a daily basis, assures customer orders are acknowledged utilizing available resources and materials management techniques.
  3. Interfaces between production and customer service representatives.           
  4. Support department and organization growth by analyzing constraints and suggesting projects to implement solutions, as well as meeting the department objectives.


  1. Mention the major responsibilities and tasks of the position
  1. Analyzes customer order requirements and production capacity to acknowledge shipping dates for assigned production areas.Develops and maintains Master Production Schedule as required by the area supervisor.
  2. Monitors inventory levels and implement strategies to maintain it at optimum levels, in order to optimize inventory turns, efficiencies and ensuring supply.
  3. Interfaces with corporate customer care representatives (CCR’s) at on-going basis in order to review and or modify customer requirements as needed.
  4. Communicates issues/concerns related to schedule changes caused by design problems, capacity limitations or material shortages to appropriate levels within the organization.
  5. Established and maintains communication with internal/external suppliers to improve lead times, and other issues pertaining to raw materials.
  6. Ensure finished goods and components are being received and forwarded to the manufacturing facility receiving department accurately & a timmely manner
  7. Ensure accuracy of lead times, safety stock or buffer levels.
  8. Cordinates lean supply chain efforts to establish strategies as buffering management in order to reduce waste and ensure customer satisfaction
  9. Works with manufacturing department to develop strategies for stocking and or ramp up plans to satisfy customer orders.
  10. Coordinates production strategies with manufacturing to develop stock quantities to satisfy rushed customer orders.
  11. Attend & participate on the daily production meetings, participate on weekly core team meetings and product team meeting.
  12. Other tasks as assigned by Planning Supervisor.

  1. Secure raw material components from internal and external suppliers on a timely manner, based on sales expectations (forecast), as well as customer orders for all areas of responsibility.
  2. Ensure finished goods and components are being received and forwarded to the manufacturing facility receiving department accurately & a timmely manner
  3. Schedule the customer orders giving a promise ship date, according to the capacity of the lines and raw material availability.

      6.    Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements


       A. Education

  • BS Industrial, Mechanical, Logistics or supply chain related degree
  • Bachelor’s Business Administration
  • APICS, green belt or Lean supply chain certifications are desired


           B. Work Experience

  • >1 year of planning, procurement or supply chain related experience
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP is a plus
  • Interaction with different functions within plant
  • Project work engagement
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Lean supply chain knowledge is a plus              



      C. Additional Skills

  • Bilingual
  • Presentation skills
  • Direct or indirect leadership


    7. Extraordinary Activities

    A. Contribute and participate in Internal and External Audits in department, as well as being responsible for the good results of such.

        Some examples of Audits are: ISO, TL, 5's, Safety, Sarbox, among others.
