Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Purpose of Position.         

  • Meet customer’s expectations of on time delivery. On a daily basis, assures customer orders are acknowledged utilizing 
  • Available resources and materials management techniques. 
  • Maintain raw material flow from vendor/supplier by establishing partnerships. Interfaces between production and customer service representatives. 
  • Support department and organization growth by analyzing constraints and suggesting projects to implement solutions, as well as meeting the department objectives on more complex product families. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes customer order requirements and production capacity to acknowledge shipping dates for assigned production areas.
  • Develops and maintains Master Production Schedule as required by the area supervisor. 
  • Monitors inventory levels and strategies to maintain at optimum levels, in order to optimize inventory turns & efficiencies. 
  • Interfaces with corporate customer service representatives (CSR’s) at on-going basis. Creates, modifies changes as needed on the ASI system. 
  • Communicates issues/concerns related to schedule changes caused by design problems, capacity limitations or material shortages to appropriate levels within the organization. 
  • Established and maintains communication with internal/external suppliers to improve lead times, and other issues pertaining to raw materials. 
  • Analyzes customer order requirements and production capacity to acknowledge shipping dates for assigned production areas.
  • Develops and maintains Master Production Schedule as required. 
  • Ensure these components are received and forwarded to the manufacturing facility receiving department accurately & a timely manner 
  • Ensure accuracy of lead times, safety stock levels, and other critical data are current through periodic ASI system 
  • Coordinates production strategies with manufacturing to develop stock quantities to satisfy rushed customer orders. 
  • Attend & participate on the daily production meetings, as well as shift change over daily cross functional PITS meetings. 
  • Other tasks as assigned by Planning Supervisor. 
  • Secure raw material components from internal and external suppliers on a timely manner, based on sales expectations (forecast), as well as customer orders for all areas of responsibility. 
  • Ensure these components are received and forwarded to the manufacturing facility receiving department accurately and on a timely manner. 
  • Schedule the customer orders giving a promise ship date, according to the capacity of the lines, and raw material availability. 
  • Contribute and participate in Internal and External Audits in department, as well as being responsible for the good results of such.
