Process Engineer
Description
The manufacturing engineer provide day-to-day support to production and ensures that the manufacturing lines are configured to produce products in an optimal fashion. Responsible for the maintenance, development and analysis of several automated controls related equipment and software, such as PLC’s, Motion controllers and components, Vision systems and SCADA equipment and software packages.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes and reports product line KPIs, such as yield, scrap, and OEE/OLE (where applicable) - Statistical knowledge is necessary
- Provides day-to-day problem solving support to production (improves processes, balances lines when needed, implements automated solutions through projects)
- Trains trainers and technicians on new equipment and processes
- Troubleshoots material, processes, and equipment issues
- Implements and documents through change management any material, process and/or equipment changes
- Uses tools for problem solving such as 5 whys, Ishiwaka, etc
- Performs capability study for processes and products (CPK Knowledge)
- Perform/verify time studies and update labor routings and BOM as required
- Participate or lead product line improvement projects using standardized methodologies (DMAIC, Agile, Design)
- Develop, design and program PLC, Motion, vision and other controls related equipment from the ground up
- Read and diagnose currently designed PLC, Motion, Vision and other controls related equipment in order to identify errors and / or waste and implement new modifications based upon detailed analysis and positive experimentation
- Design and develop complete automated systems utilizing engineering principles, advanced controls systems and electronic equipment in order to obtain world class manufacturing
- Perform tests that are unique to specific applications
- Work collaboratively with controls engineers located in distant installations to evaluate, analyze and improve current automated systems
- Configure and improve SCADA systems in order to capture accurate process data
- Propose potential automated equipment improvement opportunities using CAD tools
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical or similar
- Fluent English (80% or better) - interviews will be held in English
- 2+ years of experience in the manufacturing industry (maquila)
- Statistics knowledge (high analytical skills)
- Industrial Engineering basis (balance lines, KPIs, capacity studies, layout, VSM, other)
- Minimum of 0-2 years related job experience with automated equipment
- Minimum of 0-2 years related job experience with MS Office, CX One Suite, Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, Indusoft, AutoCAD Electrical or similar applications
- Knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated
- Industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection and communications systems
- 0 to 2 years’ experience and / or a recognized training in 6 sigma (green or black belt is desired)
- 0 to 2 years’ experience in at least one structured programming language (Labview, VB, C++, other)
