Process Engineer

 

 

  1. Purpose of Position.   
  1. The role of this position is to support the development of fundamental understanding of Corning Incorporated automatic optical component manufacturing processes. The process controls engineering will leverage fundamental understanding and core process controls tools to optimize the performance of the manufacturing processes.

 

  1. Mention the major responsibilities and tasks of the position.
  1. Implement process controls in manufacturing
  2. Support installation and use of new automated processes and equipment to ensure proper use, operation, and integration into manufacturing.
  3. Utilize data analysis methods and tools to improve process understanding and performance of automated systems
  4. Engage technical, clerical, and hourly departmental employees as required for the efficient execution of projects and assignments.
  5. Present findings to stakeholder which may include project sponsors, technical representatives, and project teams
  6. Compile periodic reports outlining project performance against goals.
  7. Extract more from existing systems by leveraging process controls methodologies.
  8. Conduct design of experiments (DOE) to gather process related data, and identify multi-variant relationships

 

  1. List the two most complex decisions indicative of this function and its impact to the function, department and/or corporation.
  1. Optimize system performance to impact OEE
  2. Communicate findings to ensure knowledge sharing and transfer for knowledge sustainment

6.    Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

 

 A. Education.

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.                           

 

       B. Work Experience.

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in similar role
  • Knowledge and operation of automation equipment
  • Exposure to process controls, controls, mechatronics     

 

       C. Additional Skills (Desired)

  • Computer skills.
  • Fully bilingual.
  • Lean exposure
  • Process controls understanding
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prepare and give presentations

 

       

7. Extraordinary Activities.

A. Contribute and participate in Internal and External Audits in department, as well as being responsible for the good results of such.

    Some examples of Audits are: ISO, TL, 5's, Safety, Sarbox, among others.
