Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering projects and cross-functional initiatives focused on process improvement, manufacturing performance, quality, capability, and cost reduction.
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineering and technical personnel while supporting performance improvement and professional growth.
- Drive data-based problem solving, root cause analysis, and implementation of process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and other engineering methodologies.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, commercial, and project teams to support new product introductions, transfers, automation initiatives, safety efforts, and other strategic projects.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- 4-6 years of experience in a similar position or in Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, New Product Introduction, or Product Engineering within a multi-product manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading engineering and technical resources.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including product transfers or new equipment implementation projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using statistical methods, process control, and data-driven decision making.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
