Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Direct support to the manufacturing lines with the fundamental knowledge of the process and product to provide a solution in a timely manner. Support in the development and implementation of new processes and products, establishing manufacturing processes and procedures to promote efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support installation and qualification of new production lines.
  • Tooling control and management
  • Registration and deregistration of tools, spare parts and tooling in Tool Crib.
  • Recurrent audits to engineering items in Tool Crib.
  • Metrics reports
  • Shipments of equipment out of the plant
  • Management of purchase requisitions for fixtures, services or equipment needed for cost reduction or continuous improvement projects.
  • Support for new process documentation and revisions to existing documents.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Technical career in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics or related field.
  • Career in mechanical, industrial, mechatronics or related engineering. Unfinished or in process.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • 2 years or more experience working in a manufacturing environment. In production, engineering or maintenance areas
  • Knowledge and use of computer tools (MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
  • Adaptable and proactive. Able to work under pressure, with minimal supervision.
