Process Technician

Role Purpose

The Industrial Engineering Technician – Digital Solutions provides hands-on technical support to the IE team at Corning’s RAM facility in Reynosa — executing time studies, maintaining labor standards and manufacturing data in SAP, and sustaining the digital tools and data workflows that support fiber optics connector assembly operations. Working closely with the Industrial Engineer – Digital Solutions, this role bridges daily floor-level IE work with the team’s growing data and automation ecosystem, ensuring tools stay accurate and improvement opportunities are consistently surfaced.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct time studies, cycle time analysis, and line balancing activities to establish and maintain labor standards across manual and semi-automatic fiber optics connector assembly lines.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing routings, work center structures, Bills of Materials (BoM) for pseudos and internal sub-assemblies, and related engineering data in SAP.
• Support Cost Roll activities, analyze labor and manufacturing cost variances versus standards, and validate product or process changes that impact costs and labor standards.
• Operate, maintain, and update Power BI dashboards, SQL queries, and Python scripts developed by the IE engineering team to ensure continuous accuracy of manufacturing data and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) reporting.
• Support system integration workflows connecting SAP, Windchill (Product Lifecycle Management platform), and Excel-based cost models through routine data validation, updates, and first-level troubleshooting.
• Document current-state manual workflows, identify repetitive inefficiencies, and provide structured observations to inform automation and improvement initiatives led by the engineering team.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, production transfers, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Associates Degree in technical field or strong Math/Science background and experiences
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Reads blueprints and/or drawings
• Other technician and/or operator roles that lead to a better understanding of the equipment and processes

Experiences/Education - Desired

• Exposure to Databricks or similar cloud-based data and analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or basic process improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with statistical or analytical tools such as Minitab or SPC (Statistical Process Control) tools.
• Experience in fiber optics, connector assemblies, precision manufacturing, or electronics manufacturing.
• Experience supporting or operating web applications or digital tools in an engineering or manufacturing context.
