- Scope of Position
Supervise a team of engineers to develop and introduce optical communication products to manufacturing. Apply fundamental understanding and engineering principles to analyze technical problems and support Connectivity business.
- Day to Day Responsibilities
- Provide supervision to engineers in developing advanced optical components
- Assist design, build, optimize and test passive optical product prototypes and sub-assemblies
- Assist introduce new product and process to manufacturing
- Build and maintain close relationships with Manufacturing, PLM, market development, etc.
- Collaborate with colleagues worldwide
- Foster a positive work environment
- Communicate openly and honestly with employees at all levels
- Establish and define expectations within the group
- Manage resources assignment and planning
- Coach direct reports and provide guidance
- Conduct annual performance reviews
- Required Education
- Master or Ph.D degree in Physics or Engineering with emphasis in optics and >3 years of relevant experience in passive optical components or fiber optics industry
- B.Sc. will be considered if they have >5 years of passive optical components experience
- 1-3 years of successful and proven supervisory, team leader and/or section supervisor experience in product development.
- Experience and accountability for developing, implementing and driving results.
- Ability to direct and develop employees, resolve conflict.
- Required Skills
- Background in the product development of optical components
- Background in measurement of optical sub-assemblies
- Fundamental knowledge about fibers and optical components
- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks
- Desired Requirements:
- Exceptional analytical skills
- Theoretical knowledge of design of optical sub-assemblies
- Software skills (Labview, python, …)
- Experience in collaborating, interfacing and communicating upward and outward
- Soft Skills:
- Ability to work in a global environment and schedule time effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information
- Ability to build effective teams and give clear direction
- Ability to drive for results and act decisively
- Spanish language capability will be a plus as significant time will be spent working with international teams located primarily in Mexico.
