Are you a manufacturing leader who knows how to make operations more efficient, cut costs, and deliver on time, every time?

If you like leading teams, improving processes, and bringing new equipment into a busy production environment, this role could be your next step with Corning.

Role Purpose

As Production Manager, you will lead our production areas. You'll set up the processes and procedures that keep the operation running efficiently, and you'll help choose and improve equipment and processes to raise efficiency and lower costs.

You'll work with Operations and other functional leaders to shape the plant's short- and long-range plans, policies, and objectives. You'll own all production area costs and make sure projects finish on time. You'll lead a team of Senior Production Supervisors and Production Supervisors in an operation that runs 24 hours a day and serves companies that use fiber optic cables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run production operations: Use reports, staff meetings, time on the floor, and direct contact with your team to keep work flowing and production on schedule. Keep spending within budget and make good use of people, skills, machines, equipment, and facilities.
  • Improve performance and control costs: Own all production area costs. Lead process and equipment improvements, and oversee the installation and start-up of new equipment so it is used correctly and fits smoothly into the department.
  • Build and lead the team: Help hire the production staff needed to run 24 hours a day within production cost targets. Lead your supervisors and keep employee safety a priority.
  • Plan, prioritize, and meet audit standards: Work with Operations and other functions, including Quality, Engineering, Materials, Finance, Human Resources, Maintenance, and Facilities. Together you'll set plans, policies, procedures, and objectives. Manage several projects at once to on-time completion, and lead your department to strong results in internal and external audits (ISO, TL, 5S, Safety, and Sarbanes-Oxley).

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a technical field
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Fully bilingual
  • A track record of prioritizing and managing several complex tasks at once and finishing them on time
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions and communicate them clearly, and plan around fast-changing requirements
  • Ability to work as a team member, leader, or facilitator as needed
