As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.
Role Purpose
Supervise and manage production processes to meet customer requirements, ensuring efficiency, quality, safety and hygiene, as well as compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS).
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and hygiene standards across production areas.
- Manage and control the human and material resources assigned to the area.
- Drive production efficiency by monitoring hourly performance and key production metrics.
- Implement actions aimed at reducing scrap and material waste.
- Ensure compliance with the guidelines established by the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Follow up on and close corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits, incidents, or process deviations.
- Train and develop personnel in production processes, safety, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with support functions such as Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Maintenance to ensure operational continuity.
- Manage inventories and ensure the proper use of materials and supplies.
- Verify compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Manufacturing and/or Production, including problem-solving responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience leading and supervising personnel.
- Knowledge of production efficiency and scrap reduction.
- Experience monitoring hourly production metrics.
- Knowledge of quality standards.
- Experience in material and inventory control.
- Experience implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Knowledge and application of safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to train and develop personnel.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (FDA).
- Knowledge of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Participation in process improvement initiatives or fixture design.
- Knowledge of customer-specific and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485.
- Experience in plastic molding.
- Knowledge of labor law (LFT).
- Schedule flexibility.
