Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The Performance Excellence (PEx) Manager is a key member of the plant leadership team responsible for leading the Quality Engineering and Continuous Improvement functions to ensure plant objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Customer Satisfaction are achieved. The role is accountable for driving operational excellence across the cable manufacturing operation through the deployment of robust quality systems, continuous improvement methodologies, and cross-functional business initiatives. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning, and Maintenance, this leader serves as a change agent who identifies performance gaps, aligns stakeholders, and implements sustainable solutions that improve business results while strengthening organizational capability.

Key Responsibilities

The Performance Excellence Manager leads the plant's Quality Engineering and Continuous Improvement functions, driving a culture of quality ownership, operational excellence, and data-based decision making across the organization. This role is responsible for developing and executing quality strategies that improve process capability, product reliability, customer satisfaction, and overall business performance while ensuring compliance with applicable quality standards. Through leadership of Quality Engineering and Lean initiatives, the PEx Manager partners closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other functions to reduce variation, eliminate waste, solve chronic business challenges, and improve quality, cost, and delivery results. As a strategic partner to the Plant Manager, the PEx Manager builds organizational capability through coaching, structured problem solving, and the deployment of continuous improvement methodologies that deliver sustainable operational and financial improvements

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering: Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Master's degree preferred.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Quality, Operational Excellence, Manufacturing Engineering, or Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong background in Quality Engineering and quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional business improvement initiatives.
  • Proven experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving capabilities.
