Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

This involves overseeing quality assurance processes, implementing quality control measures, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • The role encompasses the entire production process, from raw material inspection to final product testing and shipment area.
  • Task include lead a team of quality team (Engineer, Technician and Inspectors). Work closely with production and engineering teams, and interface with suppliers and customers to maintain Corning standards.
  •  Process capability (sigma level)
  • Consistency in our processes trough quality
  • Management of Change and NPI introduction from Quality perspective

Experiences/Education - Required

YOU MUST HAVE

  • B.S. or equivalent 
  • knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and standards in optical cable manufacturing

  • Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 9001 > TL9000   
  • Six Sigma, or similar quality frameworks, preferable Green Belt certified
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: Error proofing, Eng. Sys solutions (Poka Yoke)
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and quality management software (Minitab as preferred): CPK, DOE, etc
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience coordinating teams
  • Fluent in english (no exceptions)

 

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Supplier Quality Experience
  • Familiarity with fiber optics technology and materials science
  • Extrusion processes experience
  • Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Black Belt). 

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Summer Intern experience/progressive experience within the field of quality
  • Process engineering experience
  • Project Team Leadership
  • Shift supervisory experience
