Quality Engineer

 

1.           Major responsibilities where applicable

a.           Develop, implement and maintain Quality systems to meet the requirements of production, ISO 9001 and TL 9000

b.           Know wuality systems procedures for Corning

c.           Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns

d.           Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, lean methods, etc.

e.           Develop training to build quality awareness

f.            Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to production of new products are in accordance with customer requirements

g.           Support training to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system 

h.           Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.

i.            Provide statistical analysis and support to engineering and production as related to quality issues.  

j.            Responsible to lead the team when Customer Notifications arrive and assure the closure of the actions regardless which department caused the failure

 

2. Qualifications   

 

 A. Education level.

-             Engineering Degree            

       B. Years of Experience.

-             2 years of experience in similar position

-             Experience in ISO 9001, TL 9000 is a plus                                        

 C. Technical Skills.

-             Fully bilingual

-             SPC Knowledge

-             Experience with problem solving tools

 

D. Soft Skills.

-             Work independently, and proactively

-             High sense of urgency

-             High level of responsibility

-             Focused in achieve the goals

-             Excellent communications skills

-             Exceptional interpersonal skills

-             Excellent organizational skills

-             Excellent computer skills (Including, but not limited to: Windows, Office, Visio, Project Manager, SPC Excel, Minitab)

E. Additional Skills.

-             Experience creating (PFD, PFMEA, and Control Plan)

-             Project management experience would be also a plus

-             Six Sigma training.  A Green or Black Belt certification preferred

-             Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts.

-             Master on Quality Desired

 

     3. Extraordinary Activities.

A: Primary engineering support for product disposition and customer returns for one of the plant’s main product lines. Lead and support projects to strengthen and automate the plant’s Product Quality Architecture. These projects could include improvements in negative flow management, material setup verification, the process of implementing new process/product changes, and process setup verification.  These would be done using a Six Sigma or similar management philosophy.  Lead smaller continuous improvement projects that proactively address identified system weaknesses and support the organization’s drive to be the low cost cable producer. Set and drive implementation of quality requirements for new product designs/transfers to ensure they are capable of meeting customer specifications and production requirements.  This includes establishing requirements for new product demonstration test plans and analyzing the results with respect to customer, production, and product quality architecture requirements.
