Quality Engineering Supervisor

  1. Purpose of Position.

    Responsible for the performance and alignment to overall Quality objectives of Quality support areas such as but not limited to Supplier Quality Engineering, Calibration/Metrology laboratory, Internal Audits/Document Control and Training Operational and Initial.

     

  2. Mention the major responsibilities and tasks of the position.
  • Properly staff and develop groups under responsibility to support Plant Operations, Organization and prioritization of projects or department initiatives for areas under responsibility
  • Sponsor or lead DMAIC/Lean DMAIC improvement projects in the areas under responsibility to improve performance in all QCDMS
  • Ensure processes and systems for areas of responsibility are aligned to Campus, Division or Corporate practices
  • Share best practices and foster benchmarking with similar function in the other plants in the Campus
  • Support SQE in networking with Procurement group to establish improvement plans and cost reduction opportunities within the Supply Chain
  • Ensure calibration and metrology provide effective support minimizing equipment downtime and calibration program shortfalls.
  • Continuously look for programs to improve Training and Auditors department effectiveness and to optimize trainers and inspectors ratios
  • Work closely with Quality Systems supervisor to ensure proper support, adherence and alignment with TL9000 standard and other applicable standards for processes of areas of responsibility
  • Cost control for areas of responsibility and active participation in spending and budget activities

     

  1. List the two most complex decisions indicative of this function and its impact to the function, department and/or corporation.
  1. Lead and organize the resolution of outstanding issues for the areas of responsibility that can potentially lead to production stoppage or that affect multiple plants
  2. Disposition of suspicious critical raw material, calibration extension periods, modification of training curves, impact to Division Quality documents

      6.     Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

       

       A. Education.

  • Engineering degree
  • Six Sigma training
  • Fluent English spoken
  • Master’s degree is a plus                      

       B. Work Experience.

  • More than 4 years of experience in Quality Department, with at least 2 years as supervisor
  • Advanced Quality tools
  • Statistical Tools
  • Leadership skills
  • Green Belt training/certification, black belt is a plus

     

C. Additional Skills.

  • Effective communication – written, oral and presentation
  • Statistical Software (Minitab, Applied Stats)
  • Work balance skills
  • Lean training or certification

          

    7. Extraordinary Activities.

  1. Contribute and participate in Internal and External Audits in department, as well as being responsible for the good results of such. Some examples of Audits are: ISO, TL, 5's, Safety, Sarbox, among others.
