Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Lead the Total Quality Management process and continuous improvement programs for the facility in support of the Corning Quality Policy. Understand both internal and external customer requirements and manage systems providing assurance that requirements and business objectives are effectively met. Provide leadership and facilitation in the integration of new business opportunities and process improvements within the quality system.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust quality and process control systems ensuring the manufactured products and processes meet all Quality specifications.
- Evaluate and recommend improved deployment methods with inputs from key stakeholders and corroborate with affected functions and personnel. Influence quality culture such as making sure that prevention strategies are taken into account.
- Manage effective implementation and utilization of process improvements within key quality systems/functions (i.e. Document Control, Customer Complaint resolution, Test and Equipment Calibration, Training, Internal Audit, Quality Engineering, etc.)
- Develop, maintain and improve Quality Systems implied by ISO 9001 standards. Ensure appropriate compliance in the designated areas of responsibility.
- Identify, evaluate and deploy tools and techniques, which equip the facility with effective and productive methods used to reach business objectives. (i.e. SW and standard database solutions, Problem Solving and Six Sigma quality tools, etc.)
- Corroborate and interface with other company entities in the sharing of quality, objectives/status, issue resolution and quality improvement benchmarking.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor of Science, Engineering degree, or equivalent
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Minimum of 5 years direct experience as a Quality or Manufacturing Manager involved in the development and implementing process of procedural changes in a Total Quality, high volume, multi-product manufacturing environment using Statistical Process Control and ISO 9001 standards.
- Management and specifically Quality Management experience and certification is preferred.
- preferred: Experience in the development and implementation of training programs for manufacturing processes and procedures
