Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
The Industrial Engineering Project Leader is responsible for leading and coordinating regional industrial engineering initiatives across manufacturing plants in the Americas. This role acts as the primary point of contact between plant-level industrial engineering teams and regional leadership, ensuring alignment, standardization, and optimization of processes, systems, and data (with a strong focus on SAP PP structures such as routings and bills of materials) to drive operational efficiency and business performance. This position plays a critical role in connecting plant operations with regional strategy by leading cross-functional industrial engineering projects, standardizing best practices, and ensuring data accuracy and consistency within SAP. The Industrial Engineering Project Leader collaborates closely with plant engineering teams, operations, supply chain, and leadership to identify improvement opportunities, implement scalable solutions, and support decision-making through reliable industrial engineering data and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary regional point of contact for all Industrial Engineering teams across manufacturing plants in the Americas.
- Lead regional industrial engineering projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and expected outcomes.
- Drive standardization of industrial engineering practices, including methodologies, processes, and KPIs across plants.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and governance of SAP PP data, including:
- Routings (process flows, cycle times, work centers)
- Bills of Materials (BOM structures)
- Collaborate with plant teams to identify and implement productivity improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and process optimizations.
- Support and influence plant leadership through clear communication, data-driven insights, and strategic recommendations.
- Monitor and analyze industrial engineering performance metrics to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Industrial Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and IT.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to plant industrial engineering teams.
- Lead or support digital transformation initiatives related to industrial engineering, such as data analytics, system improvements, and SAP enhancements.
- Ensure alignment between regional standards and plant execution, balancing standardization with operational realities.
Experiences/Education - Required
A. Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
B. Work Experience
- 2–3+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional projects and driving process improvements.
- Hands-on experience with SAP PP, particularly:
- Routings
- Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Work centers and production structures
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Familiarity with data visualization tools and platforms such as Databricks or Power BI preferred.
- Strong hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow documentation and procedures.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
- Experience with SAP PP.
