Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Job Family Description:

Involves the overall planning, implementation, and optimization of all activities and support required for the delivery of products and services to our Business Partners, from materials/service acquisition through distribution. Primary areas include procurement and contracting, materials management, logistics operations, inventory planning, capacity planning, demand planning, supply intelligence, supplier management, transportation, warehousing, distribution , and network planning


Scope of Position:


Works in conjunction with supply chain team, product teams and plant management to plan and execute to deliver a high level of service and cash flow performance. Conducts Regional S&OP Partnership meetings monthly to share output from capacity and forecasting meetings and gain joint understanding and agreement at regional level. Identify and resolve capacity constraints with a focus on long-term planning and readiness. Facilitates demand management sessions with Commercial as required in constraint situations to maximize customer satisfaction. Develops and recommends inventory management strategies and lean tools to gain efficiency and drive solutions. Serve as key linkage to global SC resources focused on identifying opportunities to drive consistency and sharing of best practices related to supply chain functions. Provides direction and vision to America’s OCS regional planning team.  

Role Summary

  • Manages the Americas OCS Supply Chain Planning group covering multiple product lines
  • Lead Regional S&OP Partnership meetings to resolve significant current/potential supply performance problems
  • Oversee execution of monthly S&OP capacity reviews
  • Facilitate Demand Management meetings as required for product lines
  • Ensure Supply Chain Agility is aligned to Customer/Market requirements and any gaps are identified and addressed
  • Balance supervision and individual responsibilities as required to complete tasks on time
  • Partner with cross functional and global stakeholders to ensure optimal balance between customer service levels, inventory, and asset utilization
  • Manage relationship with forecasting team to assure provide best possible MPS to plants
  • Assure effective implementation of planning strategies to optimize inventory and customer service metrics
  • Report to senior and plant management on relevant supply chain issues
  • Facilitate monthly RRSABC item reviews ensuring optimal MPS settings and inventory targets aligned to the project framework
  • Provide training and support to regional planning team
  • Ensure plan, source, deliver, and enable functions are represented in the product teams
  • Assist in the development of supply chain strategy and roadmap and support cost savings initiatives
  • Drive deployment: set clear, well understood goals and objectives for success

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Professional qualifications in supply chain management, operations, or engineering (BS Degree, Supply Chain degree preferable)
  • 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing, Logistics, or SC Operations with demonstrated track record of results
  • Experience in managing a team of supply chain professionals
  • Mastery of supply chain strategy best practices and philosophy in optimizing operations (Capability)
  • Understanding of process flow from fiber to finished solution (Capacity)
  • Ability to align and build teams to deliver results (Influence).  Able to get things done by influencing resources across the globe that are not direct reports and may have conflicting regional priorities
  • Strong SAP knowledge/understanding
  • Thorough understand of all aspects of inventory management
  • Demonstrated ability to use lean techniques
  • Understanding of product and regional demand
  • Financial acumen (understanding landed cost and VAT to drive decision making)
  • Ability to simplify complex situations and deal with ambiguity
  • Experience in project management and superior organization skills
  • Strong communications (particularly upward within a global organization), leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum 10 % travel time
