Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Performs assignments in the areas of security education, security document control, security investigations, classification control, personnel clearance, and the administration of security policy and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for personnel and visitor clearance in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Performs investigations relating to security violations and prepares reports.
  • Controls employee identification cards and access to restricted areas.
  • May coordinate activities of security personnel, patrol cars, and closed-circuit TV. Through understanding of the general aspects and technical phases of the job.
  • Understands practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Seeks supervisory direction for issues crossing into other functional areas or with broad impacts.
  • Limited supervision. No instructions needed on routine work.
  • General instructions and/or independent leeway given on new lines of work or special assignments. Coordinates others activities.
  • Schedules own work to meet completion dates.
  • Assists in evaluation of others.
  • Assigns appropriate confidentiality status to materials and may take action to ensure compliance.
  • Recommends changes in methods or procedures.
  • Errors difficult to detect and normally result in moderate to significant expenditures to resolve.
  • Contributions influence major work streams.
  • Contacts are frequent within and outside own organization.
  • External contacts involve obtaining or providing information on matters of moderate importance to the organization and may be of a sensitive nature.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Techinical or Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5+ years relevant work experience
  • English intermediate level desirable
