Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Software Applications Specialist, Division Quality

Scope of Position:

As a project team member, participant in the management, maintenance, and production support of the division Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.  Participate in the requirements gathering, design, development and implementation of Product Lifecycle Management system and related modules

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Perform Business Administration activities such as maintaining user accounts, workflow development, programming, and overall system configuration.  Generate Java programs to develop and maintain system workflows.
  • Perform Help Desk functions – resolve submitted tickets by diagnosing and solving user reported system problems.
  • Assist with the development of user training material.  Coach and train users.
  • Generate system reports and charts from the Oracle database to assist in the analysis of business processes.
  • Generate Test Plans and assist with system testing associated with system upgrades or implementation of new system features/enhancements.
  • Develop and run programs to maintain system data.  This includes programs to mass update and move data between the many storage locations within the system.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement PLM system capabilities or improvements to existing PLM capabilities.  

 

Required Education:

4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical area 4-year

Desired Years and Area of Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment with full understanding of key product data (CAD models, drawings, Bill-of-Materials, Process Plans, Manufacturing Work Instructions, etc.).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Product Lifecycle Management systems business administration.  Prefer PTC Windchill PLM (PDMLink, ProjectLink, MPMLink,PartsLink, Supplier Management).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Equipment/Tool design, or Information Systems role.

Required Skills:

  • Business Administration experience in Product Lifecycle Management for discrete products in platforms such as Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile, SAP-PLM, etc.
  • Experience in product structuring, process development, process evaluation, quality management, process management, and production floor.
  • Experience in programming (Java) and generating reports (SQL).
  • Project management skills and experience in software development, requirements gathering, development, test, and transition to production.
  • Experience working with and managing CAD systems.  Prefer Creo, SolidWorks, NX and AutoCAD.
  • IT Help Desk experience – diagnose and solve user reported system problems.
  • Software testing experience – Prepare test plans, conduct tests, report results, and work with the team to resolve issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer application training experience – prepare training material and conduct user training in person or via web-conference.
  • Flexibility to work with multiple cultures and time zones and with users at all levels in the division (executives to factory operators).
  • High initiate, self-motivation, and ability to work in multi-national matrix organization.
  • Bilingual with English (plus Polish, German, French, Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish)
