Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Utilize your experience and knowledge to purchase production materials, and sub-assemblies in support of the company’s operations utilizing new and/or existing suppliers. Manage quality, cost, and on-time delivery of goods and services of assigned supply base.
Key Responsibilities
Follow up on the open PO report.
Develop robust savings and negotiation plan.
Actively participate in supplier selection.
Request quotes from different suppliers to optimize costs and delivery times.
Prepare and track purchase orders for raw materials, equipment, and necessary items for the production, quality, maintenance, warehouse, and shipping departments.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, normative, and customer requirements in the purchase orders for products and services.
Work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to manage supplier quality.
Maintain control of purchase orders from generation to receipt.
Notify affected departments of any issues affecting order fulfillment dates.
Evaluate assigned suppliers.
Supervise the correct entry of materials into the system.
Monitor the proper functioning of the system.
Main contact with client regarding material availability and material shortages.
Provide CTB (Cost to Buy) status to customers internal & external on material shortages.
Analyze and provide material status in case of pull-ins/increases or decreases.
Analyze excess and obsolete materials and provide information for actions to reduce impact on our inventory.
Collaborate with program managers providing status on critical parts.
Program buyer will be the first point of escalation in case of any shortages.
Attend to production meetings in case status for materials is needed.
Critical material shortage follow-up with Purchasing team.
Follow up on materials without price list or setup.
Establish and maintain effective communication with the team.
Experiences/Education - Required
Bilingual English and Spanish.

Excellent negotiation skills.
Leadership.
Bachelor's degree
