What is your role?
As a Senior NPI Engineer, you will lead technical development and manufacturing process implementation for new products and process improvement initiatives within Corning's Optical Communications business. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches, solve complex technical challenges, and drive manufacturing excellence through scientific and engineering rigor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical activities related to New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing process development.
- Collaborate with Technology, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams to ensure successful project execution and product commercialization.
- Analyze data, perform root cause and failure analysis, and implement sustainable solutions to technical and manufacturing challenges.
- Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives to improve product quality, efficiency, and operational performance.Identify and implement process improvement opportunities that support business and operational goals.
- Communicate project status, risks, challenges, and technical recommendations to key stakeholders.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment while supporting compliance with company safety standards.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.3 to 5 years of scientific research, product development, or advanced engineering experience.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to apply scientific principles and engineering fundamentals to solve complex problems.
- Experience leading technical projects, prioritizing activities, and managing multiple objectives effectively.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within New Product Introduction (NPI), Product Development, or Manufacturing Engineering environments.
- Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experiences/Education - Desired

- Research or postdoctoral experience in a scientific or engineering discipline.
- Green Belt certification or experience with Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of fiber optic products, processes, or optical communications technologies.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and new product development.
- Strong collaboration, influence, and communication skills in a cross-functional environment.
