Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
This position plays the role of consultant and contributes to the business strategy together with the rest of the departments, as well as with all areas of Human Resources, such as Salaried Recruitment, Labor Relations Compensation, Benefits, T&A and HTR- Hire to Retire.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or participate in projects related to plant initiatives or the Human Resources department
- Review trends and metrics with Plant Staff to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
- Analyze reports of Human Resources indicators such as absenteeism, turnover, demographic data.
- Actively participates in the weekly meetings with manager/supervisor.
- Manage human capital processes (coaching, consulting, career development, disciplinary actions)
- Administration of resignations, settlements, leave and absenteeism policies, as well as employee programs and procedures
- Intervene in the recruitment process and act as the main contact with sourcing talent.
- Facilitate discussions, orientation programs for new employees to learn about the needs of the company.
- Support the communication and implementation of HR initiatives, policies, and programs.
- Work directly with designated areas to provide a direct contact with HR and support plant initiatives and actions.
- Offer quality Human Resources services within our corporate framework, provide, or implement Human Resources programs and initiatives.
- Maintain proactive communication at all levels.
- Business strategy involvement.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or Labor Relations or equivalent qualification/experience
Experiences/Education - Desired
- 5+ years of experience in the Human Resources area
- Experience with administering Human Resources policies, programs and practices.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Facilitating group meetings and/or training programs.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritizes work, and meets deadlines.
- Able to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
- Proficient in verbal and written English language skills
