Role Purpose

As a Sheet Metal Fabrication Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and engineering support to manufacturing operations, ensuring sheet metal fabrication processes perform safely, efficiently, and consistently. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, supporting production teams, implementing cost reduction projects, improving manufacturability, and optimizing equipment, tooling, and fabrication processes across cutting, bending, welding, and paint operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to identify potential process problems caused by engineering drawings/specifications errors and implement effective alternatives to fix it.
  • Proven experience leading high impact DMAIC methodology projects with proven cost savings. Green belt certified.
  • Proven experience applying lean manufacturing tools. Certification or classes.
  • Ability to interpret and adapt to technical information in a fluent conversation in English.
  • Demonstrates creative thinking when applying methodic analytical skills for problem solving.
  • Ability to coordinate groups to design fixtures and tools with mistake proofing approach.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with different organizational levels.
  • Ability to independently work on complex problems with no guidance and make innovative recommendations.
  • Basic understanding of the complete fabrication process (punching / bending / paint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills (verbal/ non-verbal, negotiation, presentation). Proven experience leading a group of technicians.
  • Ensure process control and optimization across cutting, bending, welding, and paint operations

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Extensive experience with turret punches, laser cutting systems, stamping presses, and metal cutting technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of metal forming processes, tooling optimization, machine programming, and setup improvements.
  • Experience with welding processes and their impact on downstream manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of powder coating systems, pretreatment processes, water treatment systems, and paint curing technologies.
  • Experience with printing processes such as pad printing and silkscreen operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement innovative manufacturing solutions, alternative technologies, and process optimization strategies.
  • Experience evaluating, selecting, and commissioning new manufacturing equipment.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Bachelor of Science (Engineering) or Masters of Science (Engineering or Applied Science)
  • Green Belt certification
  • Black belt (6 Sigma or Innovation) training
  • Project and/or manufacturing financial management knowledge
  • Knowledge of Innovation Stage-gate processes
