Purpose of Position:

Apply Mechanical, Electrical, Automation skills and knowledge to supporting, designing and improve global automation equipment solutions for OCS manufacturing.   The position will require support of multi-functional teams and apply project management skills to diverse applications. The objective is to help drive consistency in practices, process improvements, and execution of projects across the Division’s manufacturing plants using Project Management tools/Performance Excellence tools, in areas such as cost management, quality, global vendor management, safety, risk management, leadership management (managing up), and leading diverse teams.

 

 

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Equipment design, deployment, industrialization and engineering support strategies for OCS manufacturing technologies.   Improvement of equipment quality and capability to ensure long term manufacturing performance, including:
    • Equipment design and programming documented to enable site support and flexibility.
    • Identification of Critical equipment spares, programming and service procedures.
    • Application of engineering Troubleshooting knowledge and methods.
  • Initial focus of work will be on equipment deployment, installation, and successful transition into manufacturing operation at multiple global sites.    
  • Support the development and proliferation of new manufacturing technologies and deliver improved equipment capabilities for manufacturing.
  • Provide equipment design, documentation, programming, and prototyping capabilities in support of projects.
  • Support manufacturing equipment transfers, and new equipment procurement, installation and startup as driven by business needs.
  • Project Management
  • Create Appropriations Requests (ARs) to fund projects.
  • Manage project spending to stay within budget.
  • Create and support the establishment of a safe work environment.

Administrative responsibilities

  • No direct reports.
  • Engineers may direct supplier / vendor personnel as well as site technicians, project team members through matrixed project organization to achieve equipment installation, startup, and performance improvement goals
  • May require some evening work to align with various global plant locations
  • Up to 25% travel is required; some international

 

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline related to automation (Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.)
  • Ability to build relationships and interact with various locations of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information
  • High initiative, able to work independently (Self-motivated and self-sufficient), and in a team environment
  • Flexibility; able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and display exemplary personal behavior
  • Be an effective communicator and able to deliver messages through presentations, written, and verbal communication
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite)

  • Self-starter; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

 

Preferred:

  • PMBOK Project Management Professional Certification
  • Microsoft Project and Visio
  • Proficient in quality tools like KT, Performance Excellence, and Project Management tools
