Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The Cost Reduction Portfolio Manager supports the execution and coordination of cost reduction initiatives within the OCS Division, with a primary focus on annualized cost reduction planning (Jupiter), portfolio validation, and data‑driven analysis.

This role leads the Jupiter annual planning process to ensure manufacturing plants develop estimated cost reduction portfolios in time to support the annual budgeting cycle. The role provides guidance, training, and structured support to plant teams, helping them effectively leverage established tools and processes, including CLARITY and CLImB portfolios.

Operating within the Capabilities Portfolio Management group in Division Engineering, this role collaborates with cost reduction administrators, project owners, and functional stakeholders to drive disciplined execution of cost reduction efforts and provide data‑driven insights for leadership decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Annual Planning & Portfolio Development (Jupiter)

  • Facilitate the evolution of the Jupiter process
  • Lead the execution of the annualized cost reduction planning (Jupiter) process, ensuring plants develop estimated portfolios aligned with divisional timelines and budgeting requirements.
  • Coordinate planning milestones, inputs, and deliverables to support on‑time portfolio readiness for the annual budget cycle.
  • Support working sessions, workshops, and follow‑ups to drive completion and quality of plant submissions.
  • Partner with cost reduction administrators and program owners to ensure timely updates and accurate reporting.

Training, Guidance & Coaching

  • Develop and deliver training to plant teams on how to build, validate, and maintain cost reduction portfolios.
  • Guide and coach plants on effective use of CLARITY and CLImB portfolios, ensuring alignment with divisional expectations and governance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for portfolio‑related questions, providing clarification on tools, processes, and reporting requirements.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned across plants to improve consistency and execution quality.

Analysis & Recommendations

  • Consolidate project data to support accurate forecasting, tracking, and performance reporting.
  • Analyze portfolio data to identify trends, risks, gaps, and opportunities across plants and programs.
  • Prepare insights and make data‑driven recommendations to leadership to support decision‑making, prioritization, and portfolio adjustments.
  • Develop standard and ad‑hoc reports highlighting progress against targets, forecast accuracy, and key variances.
  • Support ongoing forecast updates and reporting cycles to ensure leadership has clear and actionable information.
  • Identify data quality issues and work with stakeholders to resolve them.
  • Communicate status, risks, and issues clearly to project stakeholders and management.

Process & Tool Support

  • Support administration and effective use of cost reduction systems and reporting tools.
  • Assist with rollout and adoption of new tools, templates, or reporting enhancements.
  • Recommend incremental improvements to processes and tools based on execution experience.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Solid project coordination and execution capabilities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable operating within defined processes while identifying improvement opportunities.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related discipline).
  • Typically 5–8 years of manufacturing, engineering, or operations experience.
  • Experience supporting cost reduction, productivity, or operational improvement initiatives preferred
