Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Supports the Plant HR Manager to achieve plant goals and landing HR/Plant strategies. Maintains a positive work culture aligned with Corning’s values and standards. Helps meet budget targets while ensuring high-quality HR services. Implements global HR processes and ensures compliance with legal, regulatory requirements and global standards. Oversees COE programs to attract, retain, and engage necessary talent, reinforce Corning Values, and promote a positive environment. Ensures stakeholders understand and consistently apply COE programs, processes, and policies that meet cost, quality, delivery, and impact expectations. Supports top-tier cost performance without compromising HR service levels or employee engagement and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support HR projects and assist the HR Manager with plant activities.
  • Review workforce trends and metrics with plant HRM to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Analyze HR reports (absenteeism, turnover, demographics).
  • Participate actively in weekly meetings with managers, supervisors and main stakeholders.
  • Encompass HR processes include coaching, consulting, career development, termination/resignations and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee “Hire to Retire” processes and act as main contact for talent sourcing including facilitating onboarding and orientation for new employees.
  • Participate in business strategy development and implementation.
  • Implement change management and COE (Center of Excellence) programs, processes, and policies to support a positive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and Corning Values.
  • Identify trends and technologies to support strategic objectives and collaborate with HR partners and leaders.
  • Build positive COE reputation through customer interaction and support.
  • Advice on compensation, benefits, and organizational design for assigned clients.
  • Maintain close communication with plant talent to develop and manage the talent pipeline.
  • Provide and monitor labor relations guidelines to ensure a standardized environment.

Experiences/Education - Required

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration or related discipline.                                                

 

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in the Human Resources area
  • Work experience supporting multiple client groups.
  • Proven experience E2E new salaried employees onboarding
  • Successful track record in deployment of HR processes and/or programs
  • Proven talent program needs assessment and gap analysis skills
  • Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs
  • Able to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
