Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Functions as an advisor to a unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Becomes actively involved in daily operations when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems. Manages projects to improve overall efficiency. Coordinate and lead logistics supervisors all shifts, monitor logistics metrics. Ambassador of 5s and Safety.  There could be other warehousing and distribution activities required as needed and assigned by management.             

Key Responsibilities

  • Administers and executes policies and procedures that affect individual employees and the company.
  • Monitor and analyze metrics data such as: Verified pallets, shipped pallets, loaded trucks, shipped trucks, over time, absenteeism, cuts, material delivered; review trends of operation metrics and provide an action plan to meet goals.
  • Coordinates and lead activities with logistics supervisors that facilitates RCC activities and  solve complex problems in the organization.
  • Meets goals within established criteria (time, cost, quality), and makes resource allocation decisions.
  • Interacts with others at same level, and one level above and below, to ensure efective comunication.
  • Maintains and ensures confidentiality of information and materials.
  • Lead and ensures projects are completed on schedule following established procedures and schedules.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to employees.
  • Leads department talent planning process.
  • Performs area inspections and audits as required to ensure housekeeping and safety violations are non existent.
  • Continued focus on providing a safe work environment in alignment with EHS guidelines.
  • Meet all internal and external security, safety and trade compliance regulations.                       

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (International Business, Industrial or Supply Chain related)                                                                                               
  • Preference for working with, and through, people
  • Fully bilingual

Experiences

  • Preferably 3-5year experience in manufacturing or Warehouse & Distribution (Shipping / Receiving / Inventory Control / Supervisor / Leadership role)
  • Preferably 1-3year experience as supervisor
  • SAP knowledge
  • Preferent C-TPAT, NEEC, cycle counts, domestic and international carrier management
  • Preferent experience on worked with Border-Crossing / US Carriers
  • 5’s & Safety culture
