Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

.           Purpose of Position.      

Lead Maintenance Technicians to deliver world class business results through a clear view of where the organization needs to be in 1-3 years. This requires short and long term planning of maintenance needs, development and execution of preventive maintenance programs, assistance in maintenance scheduling, development and supervision of assigned maintenance employees. Understand Corning’s values and demonstrate proactive attitude towards the safety of subordinates, co-workers though the use of EHS, TPM, Lean Manufacturing & PQA tools

 

Major responsibilities and tasks

A.           Ensure the reliability of plant machinery and equipment in order to meet production schedules and customer orders.

B.           Ensure the safety of employees, injury-free operation.

C.           Track and improve maintenance costs.

D.          Translate strategy into actionable operating plans, sets goals for personal and team accomplishments, monitor progress and overcome/communicate barriers and adapt plants to ensure goal attainment.

E.           Audit daily work schedules for technicians.

F.           Prepare budget relative to capital, expenditures, manpower, repairs, etc.

G.          Query (CMMS) Computer Maintenance Management System software, searching for improvement opportunities related to equipment reliability.

H.          Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance crew.

I.            Must be reachable as required (home/mobile phone or pager) which means responding to emergency calls for a 7-day period, including nights and weekends.

A.           Coordinating the installation of production and facility equipment.

B.           Balance synergy vs tension of keeping equipment running while maintaining a safe work environment.

 

  Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

 

 A. Education.

-             Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.                                               

       B. Work Experience.

-             Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance Experience.                 

 C. Additional Skills.

-             Bilingual (Spanish/English)      

-             Proficiency with Internet Search Engines in order to search for OEM manuals, schematics, etc.

-             Experience in utilizing a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), extracting data for further analysis.

-             Experience with LOTO

-             Knowledgeable of maintenance performance indicators (MTBF, MTTR, OEE)
