Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Sr. Molding Engineer
 

Purpose of Position. 

Engineering Service provider for OCS Injection Molding Process standardizing processes, deployment of best practices and introduction of new technologies to improve customer satisfaction while maintaining a cost competitive advantage.

 

Responsibilities and tasks of the position.

Scientific Molding Techniques:  

  • The task for the molding process Engineer is to define, install and control the right process methodology to have a stable production with the right quality approach in the cheapest manner in our Molding facilities to support OCS Molding strategy.  
  • Scientific molding techniques proven experience 

Molding Technologies:  

  • The candidate should use all existing technologies, materials, processes and automation which exists in house and contribute to develop new innovative processes for Corning.  

Process Standardization: 

  • Contribute to align best practices within all OCS molding facilities by following, promoting, and enhancing Product Quality Architecture principles. Use of data analytics to propose and implement actions to improve areas of opportunity to improve quality and cost of the products we manufacture.  
  • Drive continuous improvement roadmaps 
  • Identify process trends and variations through a systematic process monitoring and data analysis 
  • Prepare and conduct Technical training sessions for Molding personnel as needed  

Molding Projects: 

  • Deliver projects within the Injection molding area as assigned. Projects are related to injection molding including machinery, molds, resin and automation projects among others. 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements.

Education.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Manufacturing/Operations)  
  • Preferred a degree with emphasis in Plastic Injection Molding or related 

Work Experience

  • +5 years’ of technical experience in manufacturing environment related to Molding, tooling and equipment maintenance, product development and product introduction. 
    • +3 years’ managerial experience
