Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

In this role, you will play a critical role in optimizing the efficiency of our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for developing and managing production schedules that align with customer demand, inventory targets, and resource availability. This position requires strategic thinking, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, purchasing, and operations. Your efforts will ensure the seamless and timely execution of production activities while driving operational excellence and supporting business objectives

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Planning Oversight: Create and manage production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations, aligning with customer demand and resource availability.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report key metrics such as OTP, PLT, order dating, late backlog to ensure schedule attainment and achieve target goals.
  • Capacity and Scheduling Management: Work closely with the operations team and the planning team to align capacity plans to customer needs.
  • Collaboration and Issue Resolution: Collaborate with regional and global teams, purchasing, operations, and engineering teams to address supply-demand gaps, backorders, and unexpected production changes.
  • SAP Expertise: Wide experience in planning transactions to support production orders management
  • Process Improvement: Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste in production planning processes.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate and analyze reports on production adherence, capacity, and utilization to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Cross-Regional Collaboration: Partner with other Corning sites and Global teams to successfully met customer requirements

 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelors in SC or related field (Industrial Engineering, International Business, others)
  • 5 years production planning experience
  • SAP experience
  • English - fluent

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • APICS certification is a plus
