Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
The Sr. Process Engineer will develop, implement, and improve cable extrusion processes in our optical cable manufacturing facility. They will be responsible for utilizing advanced data analytics and project management to optimize our processes to drive decision-making and improvement execution to ensure consistent, efficient, and capable operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Management and interpretation of large datasets, utilizing statistical analysis tools, and applying predictive modeling to forecast process outcomes, identify quality issues preventively, and tailor operations to meet precise specifications to guarantee operational excellence and competitive advantage
- Track metrics and KPIVs to identify patterns, trends, and insights from complex datasets; provide actionable recommendations (improvements plans)
- Drive implementation of Statistical Process Control
- Owns manufacturing process procedures, process parameters, tooling definition by product and recipe management system
- Project management for high impact process improvements and/or new product introductions
- Develop predictive models to forecast performance issues or inefficiencies in the cable extrusion process
- Mentoring junior engineers on advanced analytics techniques, influence organizational changes.
Experiences/Education - Required
Education:
- Bachelors in Engineering
Work Experience:
- Proven ability to use large data set analytics, statistics software, and data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.) to drive process improvements
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- Experience in project management
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in using advanced statistical analysis software/tools (like Minitab/R/Python, SQL)
- Data visualization skills (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
- Data acquisition and control systems (OSI Pi)
- Familiarity with Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology
- Understanding of machine learning algorithms & their application for predictive modeling
- Experience in manufacturing environment, preferably involving extrusion or molding.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in written form
- Green Belt certified, or DMAIC methodology application
