Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Lead  manufacturing activities to achieve efficient operations  directing and supervising  the performance of individuals and team of associates who put together components to make assemblies or process raw materials into finished products in an industrial environment in order to exceed Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale, Safety and Innovation goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing activities to achieve efficient operations:
    • Productivity Analysis and Improvement Plans.
    • Implement update and maintain Flex Staffing Model (where applicable)
    • Ensure to have staff and equipment according to demand.
    • Ensure keeping up to date capacity levels in SAP in agreement with the S&OP requirements and the actual order entry.
    • Support Value Stream Map creation and Maintenance.
  • Assure data driven efficient utilization and achievemnt of:
    • Budget, personnel, equipment and facilities.
    • VOH, FOH and materials cost.
    • Stretch cost target goals.
  • Assure frequent revisions, active participation and improvement plans on:
    • Profit and loss statements to identify opportunities of improvement.
    • Product Line Team meetings.
    • Performance Review of Operations meetings.
    • Coaching plans for other Supervisors to help them understan their role in the achievement of QCDMS metrics.
    • Lead and participate with the team for corrective and preventive actions resolution within the alloted timeframe.
  • Maintain safe culture and clean work in compliance with established policies, procedures, 5's culture and safety.
  • Point of contact for new product/process introductions to ensure safety, ergonomics, 5's and productivity goals are met.
  • Lead and participate on TPM and Lean activities.
  • Coordinate monthly PSA inventories activities, keeping track of the discrepancies of PSA inventories (SAP).
  • Participate in the TL9000, ISO 14000 audits to keep the certification.
  • Contribute in corrective and preventive actions documentation, implementation and execution.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 years of experience in the Manufacturing field.
  • 3 or more years of experience in leading and/or supervising personnel.
  • English proficency. 
  • Understanding and experience of Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Data driven decision making.
  • Quality Systems and TPM knowledge.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Dynamic and able to manage multiple activities and prioritize.
  • Strong Leadership Skills to effectively manage cross functional teams.
  • People development.
  • Ability to Manage diverse resources.
  • SAP management.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Master degree (preferred). 
  • Green Belt certified.
