Role Purpose

What is your role?

As a Sr. Production Supervisor, you will lead daily manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with established process controls, operating procedures, and safety standards. You will be responsible for achieving production goals related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, uptime, throughput, and cost performance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and employee development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule resources and prioritizes activities to assure efficient production schedule compliance to include product changeovers, upgrades, experiments, new product runs, training and maintenance activities.
  • Provides daily direction to production and maintenance employees, team leaders, technicians and engineers on established procedures and policies
  • Communicate and report production and process performance metrics to production teams, plant operations staff and functional leaders. Ensure that production targets and delivery requirements are met on a daily and weekly basis
  • Engage with plant teams and functional groups responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements & cost reduction projects
  • Perform performance reviews and develop and reinforce career and talent development plans for salaried/indirect labor and hourly/direct labor employees
  • Ensure that the production process is operating in compliance to established process control set-points and operating procedures. Enforce process discipline and rigorous change control
  • Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP)
  • Develop, implement and monitor training, qualification, certification and development programs for new and experienced operators, team leaders and engineers
  • Facilitate and monitor all process/equipment changes and experimental plans involving the production process, including process improvement, new product trial runs, equipment/tooling redesign, raw material, batch and/or component changes

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience as a Production Supervisor, Team Leader, or similar leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
     
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and maintain process discipline.
     
  • Experience leading continuous improvement, cost reduction, productivity, or operational excellence initiatives.
     
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process management systems and process control methodologies.
     
  • Proven leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and coaching skills.
     
  • Knowledge of cost management, profitability metrics, and manufacturing financial concepts.
     
  • Understanding of workplace safety and health practices within a manufacturing environment.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience in Process Engineering or technical manufacturing support roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities for addressing complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Experience supporting new product launches, product transfers, or production ramp-up activities.
  • Certification or training in Lean Manufacturing, Performance Excellence, Six Sigma, or DMAIC methodologies.
  • Green Belt certification preferred.
