Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose:

Implementation and maintenance of systems to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards.

 

Scope:

Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to ensure products meet customer expectations.  Develop, implement, and maintain systems to ensure product and process compliance with corporate and industry standards.

 

Challenges:

Process capability (sigma level)

Process control and discipline

Management of Change and NPI introduction  

 

 

Competencies/Skills

Required:

Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and standards

  • TL 9000/ISO 9001
  • Auditing and statistical sampling

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Error proofing
  • 8Ds and KT Analysis

Proficiency in statistical analysis  

  • CPK, DOE, etc

Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Experience coordinating teams

 

Nice to Have:

Supplier Quality Experience

Familiarity with fiber optics technology and materials science

  • Extrusion processes experience

Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Black Belt).

Gold Medalist Candidate Profile

3-5 years' experience in quality engineering within the optical cable or related manufacturing industries

Proven track record of implementing successful quality assurance programs and improving manufacturing processes

 

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field (Mechatronics)

Advanced certifications in quality management or six sigma are highly desirable
