Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position.

 

Responsible for enhancing the supply chain’s operational efficiency, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and overseeing key planning functions. This role ensures the seamless integration of SAP-driven processes, New Product Introduction (NPI), and data-driven decision-making while mentoring a team of planners to optimize supply chain performance.

The role serves as a bridge between supply chain planning, engineering, and business intelligence, ensuring that processes, technology, and personnel are aligned with business objectives and operational excellence.

 

Major responsibilities and tasks of the position.

 

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise and mentor the Supply Chain Capabilities team, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Develop the Supply Chain team’s technical expertise in SAP, Power BI, and supply chain analytics to enhance performance.
  • Conduct training sessions on SAP functionalities, supply chain best practices, and process optimization techniques.
  • Foster a culture of resilience, continuous improvement, and accountability, encouraging innovation and problem-solving.

B. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Supply Chain Readiness

  • Lead supply chain operations readiness for NPI, ensuring seamless material flow, accurate planning, and risk mitigation.
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and logistics teams to integrate new products into the supply chain.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support NPI projects.

C. SAP & Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Act as the SAP subject matter expert, ensuring the team leverages Production Planning (PP), Materials Management (MM), and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) modules effectively.
  • Oversee master data management (material master data, BOMs, routings, work centers) to maintain data integrity.
  • Utilize Business Intelligence tools (example: PowerBI) to create and update real-time dashboards for demand forecasting, inventory management, and supplier performance.
  • Ensure the team follows best practices in ERP utilization and optimization, driving process improvements and reducing inefficiencies.

D. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance supply chain efficiency, lead time reduction, and cost savings through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives, integrating automation, analytics, and best practices to optimize supply chain workflows.
  • Champion a problem-solving culture, utilizing APICS principles and Six Sigma Green Belt tools to standardize and improve processes.

E. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, engineering, and logistics teams to align supply chain activities with production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Participate in supply chain planning in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings, ensuring synchronization between demand and supply.
  • Negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating a strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to overcome obstacles.

 

Education.

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
  • APICS Certification (CPIM or CSCP) required.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred.

               

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain planning, materials management, or production planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong expertise in SAP ERP systems (PP, MM, IBP modules) required.
  • Proven track record in New Product Introduction (NPI) supply chain readiness.
  • Experience in Business Intelligence tools (example: PowerBI) database creation and data visualization.
  • Hands-on experience in Lean Manufacturing, process optimization, and Six Sigma methodologies.

 

Skills and Competencies.

  • Must be Bilingual with a high level of English proficiency
  • SAP Mastery: Expertise in Production Planning (PP), Materials Management (MM), and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) modules.
  • Advanced Data Analysis: Capable of interpreting complex data sets and translating them into actionable improvements.
  • NPI Experience: Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes is vital for successfully bringing new products to market. This includes coordinating cross-functional teams, managing timelines, and ensuring that all aspects of the product launch are executed efficiently.
  • Strategic & Tactical Thinking: Able to balance long-term supply chain improvements with daily operational demands.
  • Dynamic and highly proactive: The ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and take initiative without waiting for direction. This trait is crucial for identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Building Effective Teams: Focuses on building strong identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
