Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Develops, recommends, and implements strategies and solutions for supply chain based on the analysis of business goals, objectives, needs, and existing system infrastructure and process capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and execution of Americas Supply Chain (SC) Strategy consistent with Americas Manufacturing guidelines (Cost, Capacity, Capability, and Culture)
  • Ensure the SC is linked with business and functional strategies.
  • Lead and/or support the creation and execution of strategy projects (ex:  cost reduction, capacity expansion, E2E Lean, etc.) consistent with and in support of the regional business strategies.
  • Assist and support processes, systems, tools, and information that monitor current performance and anticipate future requirements. Support the roadmap to achieve the regional and local initiatives and ensure SC has the processes, systems, tools, and information to monitor their performance and anticipate future requirements. 
  • Collaborate across Americas region to support and facilitate consistency and linkages to enable sharing of ideas and processes.
  • Coordinate within SC for optimal effectiveness. 
  • Ensure adequate Cost Reduction portfolio and linkage to Performance Excellence Portfolio to achieve Stretch Targets
  • Develop and track PIP, IPF’s, Goal$haring and other Variable Compensation performance metrics.
  • Facilitate staff meeting agenda and annual calendar of topics including regional collaboration activities, SC financial performance reviews and other activities.
  • Lead SC projects and analysis.
  • Lead team activities of direct reports for order escalation and analysis.
  • Creating, tracking, monitoring, and reporting consistent metrics to ensure effective execution of the manufacturing strategy.
  • Support timely and aggressive actions to achieve targets.
  • Ensure proper people development plans are in place, led by Corning values.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical, Business or Supply chain)
  • Minimum of 5 years in Supply Chain
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Experience in managing a team of supply chain professionals.
  • Experience in project management and superior organization skills.
  • Up to 25 % travel time

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Master's in Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • LEAN or Six Sigma Certification or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Corning’s Supply Chain Model (Demand Planning, Sourcing, Supply Planning & Execution, Logistics, Network Planning, Contract Manufacturing).
  • Supply Chain / APICS certification.
